"Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys"..........
The album is set in a desert outside of Battery City, a futuristic safe zone governed by technofascists. Each member of My Chemical Romance has taken on a renegade superhero identity, and together, they lead the chaotic resistance against suffocating order. A pirate radio personality named DJ Death Defying broadcasts encoded messages and warnings about freedom fighters who have been dusted in the wasteland; these transmissions play between the tracks.
My Chemical Romance began as a straightforward modern rock band screaming bloody murder about the usual postadolescent subjects; their perspective hasn’t grown up much — thankfully. But they’ve opened the gates and let in every frantic pop record released in the past three decades, smashed it together in the Batcave supercollider and made glorious, snotty Jersey punk rock out of all of it. Nothing is sacred, except for fun, and that’s a big part of the band’s point.
