To announce his tour, the 32-year-old singer recently posted a videotaped parody of basketball player LeBron James' highly-publicized and watched announcement on ESPN, in which he said he would leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to play for the Miami Heat.
"After giving it a lot of thought and careful consideration, I have decided that I'm going to play for Cleveland," Mayer said, mimicking James' words.
"So as not to offend my fans in South Beach, I would also like to announce that I'll be playing for Miami," he added. "I'm also going to be playing for New York City, so as not to leave my friends across the water in New Jersey out from watching my immense display of talent, I'm going to be playing for New Jersey.
